Maine South x Gakuto Club

Members of Gakuto Club were thrilled to showcase our innovative robotics education systems at Maine South High School. Our club is dedicated to providing high school students with an accessible and exciting way to learn about robotics engineering.

Our standalone carts equipped with Yaskawa MotoMINI robot arms are not only fun and engaging for students, but they also provide a realistic and hands-on approach to learning about robotics. By teaching students how to program these robot arms to perform simple tasks, such as playing tic-tac-toe or drawing shapes with a marker, we are able to demonstrate the versatility and accessibility of robotics technology.

But we don’t stop at simple tasks. Our regular club meetings involve more challenging projects aimed at improving students’ automation and robotics engineering skills. For example, our current project is a Cognex Vision and Yaskawa MotoMini integration application, which uses a camera to locate logical numbers and operation blocks on the cart. The robot arm then responds by properly adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing, and places the numerical answer at the end of an equation. These projects not only help students learn about robotics but also give them practical skills that will be useful in college and beyond.

At the heart of our club’s mission is the belief that providing high school students with access to cutting-edge robotics technology is essential for their future success. By giving them the opportunity to work with the same equipment and materials they will see on the industry floor, we are giving them a head start for college and their future careers. We want students and parents to know that our club is a great way to gain real-world experience and develop skills that will be valuable in any field.

But our club is more than just a place to learn about robotics. It is a community of students who share a passion for technology and exploration. Our club offers a supportive and welcoming environment where students can work on exciting projects, learn from experienced mentors, and form lasting friendships with like-minded peers. We believe that joining Gakuto Club is not only a great way to learn about robotics but also a fun and rewarding experience that will last a lifetime.

In short, Gakuto Club is proud of the incredible work we are doing to break down the barriers to entry in the world of robotics, and we are thrilled that Maine South students are joining the effort. Whether you’re a high school student looking for a fun and exciting way to learn about technology, or a parent looking to give your child an edge in college and future careers, we encourage you to join us and become a part of our community.
